Adult Faith Formation 2022-2023

Dr. Cheryl White presenting an AFF talk

What is Adult Faith Formation?

Adult Faith Formation attends to our heart, our mind, our soul, and our body. It is an integrated understanding of who we are as beloved children of God, who are continually urged to know, love, and serve God more fully. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops describes adult faith formation as an essential process inviting Catholic Christians to integrate their own life experiences with knowledge of the faith, love of God, and love of neighbor. It is a complete initiation into the life of the Church as a way of forming a Christian conscience and a desire to act as Christ’s hands and feet in the world.

The Three Main Goals

  1. Invite and Enable Ongoing Conversion to Jesus in Holiness of Life.
  2. Promote and Support Active Membership in the Christian Community.
  3. Call and Prepare Adults to Act as Disciples in Mission to the World.

While we encourage adults to attend our AFF classes on Sundays, we also understand that it may not be possible for some, or that classes are sometimes missed. In order to share knowledge and continue to educate the faithful, we record and share our classes online. We are working to get our full video collection online, so if you see something missing – stay tuned!  For any questions or comments, please contact Dr. Cheryl White.

Who is Mary?

The Development of Marian Devotions

Catholics venerate Mary as the Theotokos – the mother of God! Her unique place in salvation history always points to the person and nature of her son, Jesus Christ, and the many diverse devotions to her that have developed across the centuries are beautiful expressions of this truth of our Catholic faith. Come learn more about Mary, the Rosary, and other Marian devotions that only more deeply enrich and nourish us.

Living the Catholic Faith 2022 Resource Book

Our next book is Encounters With Angels: The Invisible Companions of Our Spiritual Life by Odile Haumonte (Sophia Institute Press). What a great way to enter Advent! The plan is for participants to read the book this fall and meet on the last Sunday before Advent (Sunday, November 20) for what will be a great discussion over coffee and breakfast.

We have set up the below link for you to register, and this means you will receive the book at a greatly reduced cost of $10. Once the books arrive, we will notify you that it is available for pick-up in the Cathedral office (probably sometime in early-to-mid August).
All are welcome, it doesn’t matter where you are in your faith journey.
