On Holy Family Sunday, we celebrate our Cathedral Family. The family is the fundamental unit of Church and society and the primary place of Christian development. Together, as one family, faithful to the Gospel message and to the teachings of the Catholic Church, our mission is to promote and deepen the Catholic faith in our own lives and in the lives of all around us. We strive to live and express our belief as we gather for the celebration of the Eucharist, as we teach Christ’s saving doctrine and as we practice the charity of the Lord in our good works. “Family” includes: single, divorced, widowed, married, with or without children, young or elderly, two-parent families, single-parent families, step-families, families with special needs and families in the various life cycles of development. Our Family Life Ministries strive to affirm, support and strengthen all facets of family within the parish community by providing holistic services, programs and opportunities for enrichment, healing and spiritual renewal.
Marriage Ministry – Married life is a journey beginning with courtship, a period of engagement, and ending with the Sacrament of Marriage. Actually, the wedding is the beginning of the second stage of the marriage journey, which is a union of man and woman in which they commit, with God’s help, to a loving, life-giving, faithful relationship that will last a lifetime.
Married Couples – World Marriage Day, February 10, will recognize all married couples at the Masses, and in a special way, those who have been married 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. and 45+ years in 2019. This year we will also celebrate those couples who are celebrating their first anniversary.
Our 50 & Older Group is going strong with dinners, speakers and just plain fun and fellowship!
Our Baptism Ministry will be offering Seminars for all parents and Godparents on March 9, and May 18.
The Grief Support Ministry will offer a new “New Day Program” this summer.
Our Welcome Baby Ministry recognizes expectant families each spring and fall, and also plans to bring a congratulatory dinner to the family after the baby’s birth.
I want to thank all of you for the wonderful support you have given me and Family Life Ministries. They would not be successful without our many awesome volunteers!
Peace through Christ,
Dotye Sue Stanford, Family Life Coordinator
