VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARISHIONERS AT THE CATHEDRAL

LITURGY PREPARATIONS
Environment Committee
enhances the surroundings of our Liturgical services. Sewing, decorating, flower arranging or just muscle power is needed.
Altar Society assures that our church is prepared for Sunday Masses. They prepare the Cathedral and the Chapel for Mass, clean the sanctuary, prepare the candles, polish the sacred vessels, launder the sacred linen, clean the marble altars and statues, change the votive candles, replace the Holy Water, etc.  This is a dedicated group who spend approximately two hours each week, doing so much behind the scenes to prepare for our Masses.  The members, in doing so, share more intimately in the benefits of divine worship, in providing for the needs and maintenance of the altars, the sacristy, and sanctuary of the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans.
Sacristans do immediate preparation for Mass. They open & close the church, assure that all items such as hosts, wine, books, and vessels are in place for the service, and properly store all items after Mass.
Please call the Church Office, (318) 221-5296, to join these ministries.
