 volunteer opportunities
for parishioners
at the cathedral

Pope Benedict XVI explains in his encyclical Deus Caritas Est
that charity  is a responsibility of individuals and the Church

Love of neighbor, grounded in the love of God, is first and foremost a responsibility for each individual member of the faithful, but it is also a responsibility for the entire ecclesial community at every level: from the local community to the particular Church and to the Church universal in its entirety.
As a community, the Church must practice love. Love thus needs to be organized if it is to be an ordered service to the community

so, we ask ourselves, how can we, as parishioners, practice love of neighbor?

become involved in a cathedral ministry!

organizations & Ministries

Liturgy Preparations

Ø       Environment Committee enhances the surroundings of our Liturgical services. Sewing, decorating, flower arranging, or just muscle power is needed – call the office if you would like to help.

Ø       Altar Society assures that our church is prepared for Sunday Masses.   They prepare the cathedral and the chapel for Mass,  clean the sanctuary, prepare the candles, polish the sacred vessels, launder the sacred linen, clean the marble altars and statues, change the votive candles, replace the Holy Water, etc!!   This is a dedicated group of women and men who spend approximately two hours each week, doing so much behind the scenes to prepare for our Masses!  The members thus share more intimately in the benefits of divine worship, in providing for the needs and maintenance of the altars, the sacristy, and sanctuary of their parish church.

Ø       Liturgy Committee members assists the Pastor in planning the liturgies.  If you have interest and expertise in serving on this Committee, call the pastor.

Ø      Sacristans do immediate preparation for Mass. They open & close the church, assure that all items such as hosts, wine, books, and vessels are in place for the service, and properly store all items after Mass.
